Per Frank Seravalli, the New York Rangers have acquired forward Vladimir Tarasenko from the St. Louis Blues. It has also been reported by several NHL insiders that defenseman Niko Mikkola is going to New York as well.

Tarasenko reportedly waived his no-trade clause for the Rangers, Islanders and the New Jersey Devils recently, which fits into this bit of news. Per CapFriendly, the Rangers have $1,521,427 in cap space before the deal.

Vladimir Tarasenko carries a cap-hit of $7,500,000, so St. Louis is retaining salary and taking a Rangers' player back in return. According to Nick Alberga, former Blue Sammy Blais is a part of the deal going back to St. Louis. Blais was initially traded to New York as part of the Pavel Buchnevich trade in 2022.

Full trade:

To NYR:
- Vladimir Tarasenko (50% retained)
- Niko Mikkola

To STL:
- Sammy Blais
- Conditional 2023 1st round pick
- Conditional 2024 4th round pick
- Prospect Hunter Skinner

Per Pierre LeBrun, "Condition on first-round pick this year going to the Blues: latest of the two first round picks Rangers have, their own or Dallas'. Blues get the later of the two. The 2024 fourth-round pick Rangers sending to the Blues becomes a third rounder if the Rangers make the playoffs this year."
