A referee in Russia has been suspended until the end of the 2022-23 season after injuring a teenager during a game on Sunday. The 17 year old player has a suspected concussion after Alexander Cherenkov intentionally tripped him, knocking him to the ice without his helmet on. Players were involved in a scrum around midway through the third period and the referee was attempting to cool things down by separating the players. While pulling one aside, you can see in the video that he put his leg behind the legs of the skater in order to take him down to the ice. The takedown happend around 17 seconds into the video.
