The Detroit Red Wings face quite the pickle going into this season's trade deadline. Captain
Dylan Larkin is a pending unrestricted free agent, and the two sides apparently remain far apart in negotiations.
According to Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press, Larkin's camp recently rejected an eight-year, $64 million contract ($8M AAV) offer from the Red Wings.
Wings' correspondent
Ansar Khan of MLive, Larkin's camp is seeking closer to $9 million per season over an eight-year term. Khan also mentions that talks between GM Steve Yzerman and agent Pat Brisson have been consistent, which is encouraging.
So far in his 551 games with Detroit, Larkin has amassed 401 points (162g-239a). The Red Wings have cracked the postseason just once in Larkin's career; his rookie season in 2015-16.
