Arguably the biggest trade chip on the market this season is San Jose Sharks forward
Timo Meier. The 6'1'', 220lb Switzerland native will be a hot commodity at the trade deadline, and a bidding war will likely transpire.
It's already been reported that Meier will command a lesser package than the 2022 7th and 39th overall and 2024 3rd round picks
Alex DeBrincat yielded Chicago in the summer.
According to Elliotte Friedman,
the favorite to land Timo Meier are the New Jersey Devils.
The Devils have ascended to the rank of serious Cup contenders and have the need and assets for a Meier deal. Also, the fit is undeniable. New Jersey already employs a pair of Swiss players in their ranks in captain
Nico Hischier and underrated defensemen
Jonas Siegenthaler.
Meier would fit right at home in New Jersey, and they have all the makings to both make the trade and sign the power forward to a contract extension next summer. While the Devils did spend to the cap this summer, they have approximately $35 million in spending room this summer.
