Former NHLer Mikhail Grigorenko has agreed to a one-year, $1.2 million deal with the Columbus Blue Jackets, the team announced Monday.

Grigorenko, 26, originally agreed to a deal with the Blue Jackets back in April, but the contract was voided by the NHL because it did not cover at least the current year (i.e. the 2019-20 season). As a result, the first day the deal could be signed was Monday, so they were able to get it done right away.

Grigorenko last appeared in the NHL during the 2016-17 season with the Colorado Avalanche. That season saw him post just 23 points in 75 games. In fact, in his 217 career games, he only put up 22 goals and 64 points. However, he appears to have rediscovered his offensive touch during the last three seasons spent in the KHL with CSKA. This past season, he posted 19 goals and 41 points in 47 games. The 2018-19 season saw him post a professional career high with 52 points in 55 games.

Grigorenko was selected by the Buffalo Sabres with the 12th overall pick at the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. While it has taken some time, it appears that the Khabarovsk, Russia native may finally be panning out.
