According to TSN's Chris Johnston, the New York Rangers have signed defenceman Ben Harpur to a two-year contract extension worth $1.575 million ($787,500 AAV).
Harpur, 28, became a free agent last summer and signed a PTO with the Blue Jackets, joining them for training camp. Near the end of training camp, the Blue Jackets released him and he subsequently signed a PTO with the Rangers' AHL affiliate.
After two weeks in the AHL on the PTO, the Rangers signed him to a one-year deal for the remainder of the 2022-23 season. In 18 games with the Rangers, Harpur has three points (one goal, two assists), six penalty minutes and has an even-rating.
