The Vancouver Canucks have officially relieved Bruce Boudreau and assistant coach Trent Cull of their coaching duties.
The team also announced that Rick Tocchet will assume the head coaching position. Retired NHL defensemen and Stanley Cup champions Adam Foote and Sergei Gonchar will also join Tocchet's staff; the former as an assistant, the latter as a Defensive Development Coach.
The dramatic saga of Bruce Boudreau in Vancouver is finally over, and the Tocchet era begins. It has been speculated more than once that Tocchet's hiring has a lot to do with
keeping J.T. Miller accountable and in check, which...is not a great sign considering his seven-year contract hasn't even started yet.
Tocchet is expected to be behind the bench for the team's Tuesday night matchup with the Chicago Blackhawks.
