He is a point-per-game player right now, but Jack Eichel of the Vegas Golden Knights is drawing some criticism from his head coach. Bruce Cassidy spoke with reporters following his team's 4-3 loss to the Detroit Red Wings, and zeroed in on Eichel for a bit of a slump lately.
"Jack just hasn't been the same driving force for us as he was at the start of the year... The expectations are not getting met by Jack. He needs to be better for us especially as we're down a few guys that create offense for us," said Cassidy.
Eichel did have an assist in Thursday night's game. However, in the four previous he had just one goal and was a combined minus-9. Cassidy has thrown his lines in a blender lately in an attempt to find a combination that would get Eichel going, but it hasn't worked.
Eichel was traded to the Golden Knights from the Buffalo Sabres in 2021 for a huge haul that included Alex Tuch, Peyton Krebs, and first and second round draft picks.
