After being looked over by Hockey Canada for the 2022 World Junior Hockey Championship, both the December 2021 tournament that got cancelled and for the summer edition, Brandt Clarke will finally wear the Maple Leaf.

On Wednesday, the Los Angeles Kings announced that they've loaned the 2021 eighth overall pick to the Canadian National Junior Team for the 2023 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship.

Clarke, 19, has appeared in nine games for the Kings this season, recording two assists, six penalty minutes and is a minus-one.

It'll be interesting to see what the Kings decide to do with Clarke at the conclusion of the tournament. In the past, it's been fairly common that if an NHL team releases a player for the World Juniors, they'll then assign the player to their junior team after the tournament is over. If that were the case with Clarke, he'll be going back to the Ontario Hockey League's Barrie Colts, where he was captain last season, putting up 59 points in 55 games.

Hockey Canada's selection camp is set to get underway on December 9th and the team will open their 2023 World Junior schedule on December 26th against Czechia.
