NHL veteran Jakub Voracek is attempting to set the record straight. The 33-year-old member of the Columbus Blue Jackets is on long-term injured reserve after suffering a concussion on November 4th. With this latest injury has come rumours that Voracek may never be able to return to the ice. He told reporters Monday that isn't the case.

"I see some rumors that I'm in a tough spot or something. Obviously it's not a great feeling to have a concussion, but it's not as bad as it sounds on the internet over the last few days," said Voracek.

At the same time, he admitted that his chances of returning this season are "slim".

"Obviously I'm going to make my best efforts to try to (return), but it might be a long process," said Voracek. "As of now, I don't see myself playing in the near future, but I'll do everything in my power to try to get back on the ice."

He also told reporters that this latest concussion was the seventh or eighth documented one of his career.

"And then there are those little ones when you're not sure," Voracek added.

There's no question everyone is rooting for Voracek to return. However, no one wants to see him put his wellbeing on the line in order to do it. Hopefully, the year off will give him ample time to get his heath in order, if it's even possible to do so after so many concussions.
