Steven Stamkos scores 1000th point
Tampa Bay Lightning captain Steven Stamkos became the 95th member of the NHL's 1000-point club. He is the only Lightning player to ever reach the milestone and has all of his points with Tampa Bay. He scored his 1000th point on a second assist to linemate Nick Paul in the second period of Thursday's game against the Philadelphia Flyers. Stamkos' teammates emptied the bench to celebrate the milestone:
Stamkos has 494 goals and 506 assists to tally the 1000 points in his career. He notched his 500th assist earlier this season. In addition to the point and assist markers, he will likely hit the 500-goal mark sooner rather than later. Stamkos will come up just shy of 1000 games played this season, and will likely hit it at some point early next season provided he remains healthy.
For a superstar whose career was in jeopardy just three years ago, this is quite an accomplishment.
