If you are a follower of the Toronto Maple Leafs, the fate of
Auston Matthews' time in the Six is of utmost concern. Arguably a top-3 player in the NHL, Matthews has one more season after the current one before he earns unrestricted free-agent status, and many folks question whether or not he re-ups with the Leafs.
Nick Kypreos of Sportsnet has maintained that Matthews' departure is not only a grave concern of fans, but also of folks within the organization.
A lot can happen in two years, but it just
feels as though Matthews is gone in 2024. Whether or not Toronto receives anything for Matthews, we will just have to wait and see.

But between the heavy media pressure, the lack of tangible results, and the salary/tax implications, it is very difficult to envision the American superstar remaining a Toronto Maple Leaf.
There is compelling reason to believe
