Late last week, Hockey Canada finalized their head coach (Travis Green) and general manager (Shane Doan) for the 2022 Spengler Cup in Davos, but now they've added one of the best defenceman in NHL history to their staff.
According to TSN's Darren Dreger, Hockey Canada has hired Hall of Famer Scott Niedermayer to help manage the defence during the tournament, which kicks off on December 26th.
Niedermayer, 49, has represented Canada on seven occasions, including the 2002 and 2010 Winter Olympics, winning the gold medal at both events.
Canada will be in Group Cattini alongside the hosts, HC Davos and Czech-side, HC Sparta Prague, who they'll open the tournament against on December 26th at 8:15 p.m. Swiss time/2:15 p.m. ET.
