During last week's edition of the '32 Thoughts Podcast', Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman revealed that the Toronto Maple Leafs have interest in trading for Anaheim Ducks forward Frank Vatrano.
The biggest issue with the Maple Leafs trying to acquire Vatrano, as Friedman pointed out, was his cap hit and that a source told him it would be extremely tough, even if Anaheim retains 50% of the 28-year-old's salary.
"All I've heard from the Ducks is Toronto having some interest in Frank Vatrano, which I think makes a lot of sense, left-hand shot, guy can score, but someone said to me they can't even do at 50%, it's 1.8M, it's not something they think they can fix"
Friedman said.
Vatrano, a native of East Longmeadow (Massachusetts), has played in all 21 of Anaheim's games this season. In those 21 games, he's recorded six points (four goals, two assists), 10 penalty minutes and is a minus-seven.
