In their Reverse Retro matinee at Madison Square Garden, the New York Rangers held a commanding 3-0 lead over the Edmonton Oilers entering the final frame. The game looked like it was in the bag, but one should know never to count out the Edmonton Oilers, regardless how stingy one's defense is.

The Rangers must have eaten all their Thanksgiving leftovers during the second intermission because they came out sluggish in the third. The Oilers were on the board within five minutes, and before you knew it, the game was tied.

This was a huge comeback win for the Oilers, who went into this game .500 through 20 games. As a 'contender', being at or around .500 through 20 games is hardly ideal.

On the other side, the Rangers aren't exactly in a favorable position either, and these were two points they could have used. The Metropolitan Division is tightly packed - just 4 points separating 5th place from 2nd.

That, plus this calamitous defeat happening on home ice on Reverse Retro day, likely won't blow over well in the dressing room. New York is back in action on Monday when the division-leading New Jersey Devils come to town.
