The Dallas Stars have announced that they have placed Ondrej Vala on unconditional waivers for the purpose of a contract termination. His contract had one season remaining on it.

Vala, 22, has spent most of his professional career to this point in the ECHL with the Idaho Steelheads. In 49 games with them this year the six-foot-four defenceman posted five goals and 10 assists. He also played in six AHL games with the Texas Stars where he posted one goal and one assist. In total for his career he has played 104 ECHL games, scoring eight goals and adding 20 assists, and 15 AHL games where he has notched one goal and two assists.

The undrafted Czech was signed by the Stars to an entry-level contract after finishing his junior career with the Kamloops Blazers of the WHL. It is likely he pursues an opportunity in Europe for the 2020-21 season.
