As part of Phase 2 of the Return to Play Plan, NHL teams can begin having workouts with small groups at their team facilities.

The Edmonton Oilers, New York Islanders, Philadelphia Flyers, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Vegas Golden Knights are expected to open their training facilities Monday. The Pittsburgh Penguins announced that they will return Tuesday and the Arizona Coyotes will return Thursday.

Bill Daly, NHL Deputy Commissioner, said he expects that all 24 teams will open their training facilities before transitioning to Phase 3. Phase 3 does not have an official start date, but it will not occur before July 10.

“Clubs are approaching it differently depending on their circumstances,” Daly said. Daly told TSN that teams are allowed to decide when they want to open.

Phase 2 involves NHL teams being permitted to open their training facilities and to allow players to participate in on- and off-ice training. Participation is on a voluntary basis for all players and workouts are limited to a maximum of six players at a time.
