Earlier on Wednesday, the New York Rangers traded veteran forward Ryan Reaves to the Minnesota Wild in exchange for a 2025 fifth-round pick.
The deal came as no surprise to many and following the move, it was revealed that Reaves requested a trade away from the Rangers, according to Mollie Walker of the New York Post.
Walker reported that Reaves' agent spoke with Rangers general manager Chris Drury while the team was in Los Angeles this week to formally request the trade.
Reaves, 35, appeared in 12 games for the Rangers this season prior to the trade, putting up no points, 12 penalty minutes and was a minus-five.
