Just before the Montreal Canadiens hit the ice at the Bell Centre for the morning skate, the team announced on Twitter that veteran forward Mike Hoffman won't play on Tuesday night against the Buffalo Sabres due to a lower-body injury.

Hoffman, 32, suffered the injury late in the second period of Saturday's overtime win against the Philadelphia Flyers. He remained on the bench for the rest of the game, but did not play another shift.

The Kitchener (Ontario) native has appeared in 16 games this season for the Canadiens, putting up eight points (five goals, three assists), eight penalty minutes and plus-three.

Puck drop for Tuesday's game between Montreal and Buffalo at the Bell Centre is set for 7 p.m. ET on TSN2 and RDS.
