A hockey player from Russia has received his second lifetime ban from an amateur league for yet again attacking a referee. Nikolai Rizin, 42, was playing a game in the Labor Reserves league Saturday when a penalty was called against him that he clearly didn't agree with. Before stepping off the ice into the box, Rizin swung his stick at a referee, hitting him in the face. While the official was on the ice, Rizin would step into him with a hard kick before being pulled away by teammates and opponents.
The Labour Reserves league immediately announced that Rizin was banned for life, and indicated it would help the official with any legal action, should he choose to take it.
"The Hockey League 'Labor Reserves' does not accept and will never accept such behavior on the part of teams and individual players; KFOR will take the most stringent measures on this fact. Also, the league is ready to provide full legal support to provide legal assistance to the injured arbitrator."
Meanwhile, it was pointed out by someone on Telegram that this isn't the first lifetime ban Rizin has received from an amateur league. He was suspended from another in 2016 after intentionally slamming a referee's head into the glass.
Obviously, Rizin is unable to control his temper and shouldn't be taking part in any organized hockey game. Sport-Express.ru is reporting that the official involved in the latest incident has filed a report with police.
