In addition to marking New Jersey's 12th straight win - one shy of a franchise record - the Devils' win served as an accolade previously undiscovered in the NHL's 105-year history. With the win, the Devils became the first team ever to sweep through both Western (Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary) and Eastern (Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa) Canada road trips in the same season.
Not bad for a team who, a year ago, finished at the bottom of the NHL leaderboards. New Jersey looks to keep their monster winning streak alive at home, when they host the Edmonton Oilers on Monday night.
With a 15-3 record and a +26 goal-differential, only the Boston Bruins have better numbers in both categories. It might be time to label these Devils as 'legitimate.'
