Stop me if you've heard this one before.

After the Buffalo Sabres stormed out of the gate to start the season, they completely fizzled out, sinking them from near the top of the leaderboards right to the bottom.

After starting 7-3, the Sabres sit just three points out of last place. Following Wednesday's 4-1 defeat to the Ottawa Senators, star defenseman Rasmus Dahlin displayed his frustrations by bashing his stick into several pieces.

Perhaps this is ultimately a positive for the Sabres, who were never winning the Stanley Cup this season. With a stacked draft being held this summer, a higher draft pick would do more for this club than maybe making the playoffs.

Still, I have to believe this team is better than a pure lottery team. Not by much, but better nevertheless.
