Anton Stralman not happy about NHL returning to play

NHL commissioner Gary Bettman has presented the NHL's plans for returning to play. Testing and isolating while playing in two hub cities appear to be the way to go when the 2019-20 season playoffs start. Not everyone is happy about the plans though. Florida Panthers defenseman Anton Stralman told Swedish public radio that he thinks it's wrong.

“We'll see what happens but generally, considering the state the world is in, it doesn't really feel safe. I think it's wrong prioritizing hockey in a situation where people all over the world are actually dying. It went from 1000 to 5000 to 50000” Stralman said.

“To find a place where we are supposed to be kept in an isolated bubble and maybe get priority for testing and other stuff like less restrictions against travel. I'm not sure I want to be a part of it, it feels wrong. I don't think it's fair to everyone who may need it way more than we do, just so we can play hockey and recoup some lost income”.

The 33-year-old defenseman, who signed with the Panthers this year after five seasons with the Tampa Bay Lightning, thinks that the season should be cancelled entirely:

“Yes, I think so. If money and lost income is the problem… then maybe we should look at next season. How can we bring in more money? Maybe there's the possibility of playing more regular season games or this season's playoff then”.
