For Avs forward Vladislav Kamenev, the long break has been anything but quarantine and quiet.

According to RIA News Agency, Kamenev has spent quite a bit of time in a hospital. While the Avs did announce in April that several of their players tested positive for COVID-19, Kamenev's saga was proceeding on its own. Having gone back to Russia, he spent two weeks in a hospital with a severe case of pneumonia. His father Dmitri told RIA that an initial test had a positive result for COVID, follow-up tests, as well as tests of family members with whom Kamenev had been in contact prior to hospitalization, were all negative.

Last week, Kamenev ended up in the hospital again, this time with appendicitis. "On Saturday, they removed his appendix," said Dmitri Kamenev, "he's still in the hospital, though he should be out any day now. I think he'll need two or three weeks rest before starting training for the resumption of the season."

The 23-year-old Kamenev played in a career-high 38 games this year, tallying one goal and seven assists with a -2 rating. He is a second-generation hockey player, as Dmitri Kamenev had a 10+ year career, spent on the second and third levels of Soviet and Russian hockey.
