The NHL's Department of Player Safety announced today that Detroit Red Wings forward Michael Rasmussen will have a hearing for high-sticking Bruins' center David Krejci.

Krejci was injured and would leave the game after the play, but not because of the high-stick. Rasmussen threw a hit - which left Krejci injured - and followed through with a high-stick after the fact.

Exhibit A:

Rasmussen measures in at 6'6'' so 'high-sticking' for him can be a misleading term; to him, this was more like medium-sticking. For the record, Rasmussen was assessed a two-minute minor for high-sticking, one of three minor penalties he was assessed last night.

Still, DoPS found this indiscretion worthy of a hearing, which opens the door to a suspension, should they deem it necessary. I would be shocked if they did, given Rasmussen's lack of priors and the vanilla nature of the act.

Krejci was not listed as a participant in today's practice, as the Bruins await the full injury report.
