Avalanche superstar forward Nathan MacKinnon had high praise for a fellow teammate, who is also a huge superstar in the NHL. MacKinnon appeared on Spittin' Chiclets for the third time in his life, and some of the topics discussed were the Stanley Cup run, his celebrations, and the insanely talented defensemen in Colorado.
Of course, when you think of highly skilled defensemen, Cale Makar has to be one of the guys that comes to mind. The 23-year-old defenseman has started right where he left off last season, tallying 4 assists in three games thus far for the Avs. He is over a point-per-game player, and for a defenseman, that is a crazy stat. Posting 184 points (48 goals, 136 assists) in 181 games so far in his career, Makar has established himself as arguably the game's top defensemen, and MacKinnon thinks he can elevate his game even further.
"I think he's going to be the best defenseman ever," MacKinnon said.
MacKinnon also explained that he thinks Makar will break every scoring record for defensemen, and possibly five or six Norris trophies in a row. Makar's potential is unlimited at this point, but just how much he can do will only come with time. The video of the interview can be seen below.
