This hardly comes as a surprise, as the 19-year-old Wolf had a phenomenal season for the Everett Silvertips, posting a 1.88 goals against average and a .935 save percentage along with a 34-10-2 record.
This award has been won in the past by many successful NHL goalies, including Carter Hart, Darcy Kuemper, Carey Price, and Cam Ward. It is voted on by WHL general managers as well as head coaches.
“Another great season in Everett – I can't thank my team and my coaches enough for all the support they've given me throughout it,” he said on CalgaryFlames.com earlier in the month.
“(I'm proud of) gaining more experience and becoming more of a leader in the room – you play more games, it's obviously going to come along with it. Coming out of camp last year, there were a few points of emphasis on a few different aspects of my play … playing the puck a ton more, I got a lot of chances to do that this year. Made some big strides.”
Wolf was selected by the Flames in the seventh round (214th overall) in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. He signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Flames on May 1st.
