Ottawa Senators goaltending prospect Kevin Mandolese received a big honour on Monday, being named the QMJHL's goaltender of the year.

Mandolese, 19, had a fantastic season with the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles. Though he was limited to just 37 games, the Blainville Quebec native posted a 2.33 goals against average along with a .925 save percentage and a sparkling 26-8-1 record. It was his first season out of four total in the QMJHL where he posted a save percentage over .900.

Though Mandolese does need to develop further before he is ready to be in the NHL, he is certainly on the right track. The six-foot-four netminder was selected by the Senators in the sixth round (157th overall) of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft.
