New York Rangers prospect Nils Lundkvist received a big honour on Wednesday, as he was voted the Junior Player of the Year in the Swedish Hockey League.

Lundkvist, 20, had an exceptional season for Lulea HF, posting 11 goals and 20 assists in 45 games. Those numbers are very impressive considering the young defenceman is playing against players much older than himself. The talented Rangers prospect has now played three seasons in the SHL, posting a combined 46 points in 114 games. He has also represented Team Sweden at the last two IIHF World Junior Championships, putting up a combined 10 points in 12 games.

The Rangers selected Lundkvist with their first round pick (28th overall) at the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. Though it is still early, they have to be thrilled with his progression to this point.
