Keith Kinkaid was playing a very solid game against the club with whom he started his career, when he fell to injury and was taken out of the game.
A one-time from Devils' defenseman John Marino and/or a collision with forward Nate Bastian left Kinkaid down for the count, visibly not right after the fact.
He stops the shot with his blocker, and Bastian hardly rubs up against him. To me, it looked like whiplash or something with Kinkaid's neck. Obviously, I am no doctor and that is clearly me speculating.
Nevertheless, Kinkaid was likely starting the season in Providence of the AHL, as Boston's third goalie. Hopefully, this was not a serious event and the 167-game veteran is able to carry on uninhibited.
