It is halfway through September, and we still do not have any idea what is next for P.K. Subban. Well, other than his new TV show for the NHL.

Subban is still just 33 and still believes he has some fuel in the tank to make a contribution. However, aside from a handful of rumors, all is quiet on the Subban front. Leaving many wondering where his career stands and if he will ever play again.

Notorious, Toronto-based journalist Steve Simmons is among that group, and apparently he has been trying to reach the 2013 Norris Trophy winner all summer, to no avail.

Simmons recently said, ".. September is halfway over and Subban is nowhere to be found.

I called his agent and family members and friends and former general managers and all five of the numbers I had for him on my phone list. None of the numbers was his. One polite woman on the phone apologized for P.K. not having that number anymore. A few people said they would get him to call; he didn't."

Clearly , P.K. Subban has no interests in talking to Simmons, and the reason -- for those familiar with Simmons' work -- is obvious. For those unfamiliar, Simmons has a questionable reputation, both in credibility and in character, often presenting inherently cynical perspectives regarding athletes and organizations.

Still, it is a journalist's job to ask questions.

The funny part of this particular self-own from Simmons is that P.K. gave him a list of fake numbers, none of Subban's friends or family will speak to him, and he still frames the story like P.K. has gone rogue all of a sudden.

Perhaps, the 13-year NHL veteran knows what kind of reporter Simmons is and has no interest in feeding him information other than misinformation by way of false phone numbers. A victimless maneuver, save the poor lady who had the terrible misfortune of having to talk to Steve Simmons in the crossfire.

Simmons, apparently, is still not getting the hint that P.K. Subban has no interest in divulging his career plans to him.
