Sidney Crosby Talk About The Future of His Playing Career
Pittsburgh Penguins' captain Sidney Crosby sat down with 32 Thoughts' Elliotte Friedman and Jeff Marek to discuss the upcoming season at the NHL Media Tour in Las Vegas this weekend. One of the topics up for discussion was how long Crosby will continue playing in the NHL.
Crosby, who turned 35 in August, has three years remaining on his deal with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Crosby continues to play at a high level well into his 30s. Last season, he put up 31 goals and 52 assists for 84 points in just 69 games. He is still more than a point-per-game player. There is no question he was the face of the league for more than a decade, and as he begins to get older, that baton has most certainly been passed to guys like Connor McDavid and Auston Matthews.
Crosby has always been a thoughtful, albeit quiet guy.
[At least] three more years of Sidney Crosby in Pittsburgh. He also expressed how happy he was when teammates Kris Letang and Evgeni Malkin signed extensions in the off season, "It's pretty obvious how I feel. I mean, it's not like I have to declare that. I think it's pretty clear how I feel about those guys."
Crosby, Letang, and Malkin are set to begin their 17th season as teammates in just under one month - the most among any trio in the NHL.
