The Edmonton Oilers have re-signed rookie forward Gaetan Haas to a one-year, $915,000 contract through the 2020-21 season, the team announced Tuesday afternoon.

Haas, 28, made his North American professional hockey league debut for the Oilers this season after spending the last nine seasons playing in the NL in Switzerland. The Swiss forward made the Oilers out of camp this season, but was briefly sent down to the Bakersfield Condors of the AHL. He played in just two games with the Condors, posting one assist, before being called back up by the Oilers.

In 58 games with the Oilers, Haas has five goals and five assists. It took him some time to get used to the North American game, however he proved to be a capable NHLer over the second half of the season. This signing gives the Oilers center ice depth going into next season.
