Philadelphia Flyers forward Oskar Lindblom is continuing to make progress during his battle against a rare bone cancer. The 23-year-old forward was diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma this past December.

At the time of the diagnosis, Lindblom was tied for first on the Flyers with 11 goals, as he appeared to be having a breakout season. Due to the diagnosis, he has not been able to play since.

“Oskar's going through his last treatments coming up here, but everything I've been told from Jimmy (McCrossin, the team's trainer) has been very positive,” said Flyers assistant general manager Brett Flahr. “He feels great, considering the condition he's in. He's such a great kid and he's determined. His focus is to play as soon as possible.”

It remains unknown if or when Lindblom will be able to return to the Flyers lineup.

“For all the stuff this guy has been through, he looks terrific,” Flahr said. “The last time I saw him, he looked good. He had that smile on his face. He's doing things like cardio (workouts) to keep up his strength as much as he can. I think as soon as he gets his last treatment, the worst is over for him.”

Flahr also mentioned Lindblom's doctors have told the young player that the entire situation could not have gone any better for him. This is fantastic news for not only Lindblom but the entire NHL community who has rallied around him since the devastating news of his diagnosis. The former fifth-round draft pick has played in 134 career regular season games to this point, notching 30 goals and 27 assists.
