You remember David Ayres? Just two months ago, he won an NHL game for the Carolina Hurricanes against the Toronto Maple Leafs as the emergency goalie. Today, he is beginning a new adventure, as he joins an organization during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Zamboni driver will raise emergency funds for the Kidney Foundation of Canada.

"At this time of the year, with everything that's been happening recently, it is very difficult for some people who have kidney problems, whether for dialysis or following a transplant," Ayres said at 680 News this Friday.

The 42-year-old is well aware of the problems associated with this part of the body, having himself needed a transplant in 2004. It can be a very complicated thing to manage for relatives and patients.

"You are completely isolated from your family" he adds, "At least I was, and you feel alone".

His goal is to raise $ 100,000. He obviously wants people to donate, whether it's a dollar or more.

“Everything can help. A dollar doesn't seem necessary to you or me, however, if a million people do it, people with kidney problems can benefit greatly. "
