For a month now, all professional sports leagues have been on a break due to the coronavirus pandemic. Several speculations are circulating regarding the resumption of activities. However, no one has been able to pronounce on a return date or on a scenario involving all the teams from different cities and with different restrictions in every one of them.

The following memo signed by Jared Moskowitz, state coordinating officer for the Florida Division of Emergency Management, clearly states that professional sports are now added to the list of essential services.

“Employees at a professional sports and media production with a national audience — including any athletes, entertainers, production team, executive team, media team and any others necessary to facilitate including services supporting such production — only if the location is closed to the general public.”

Could the state of Florida host sporting events? It's possible. However, these games will be played without fans. WWE has already taken advantage of this new rule when it aired Monday Night Raw live from Orlando. It could also be an interesting location for the National Hockey League, who was looking closely at the possibility of ending its regular season in North Dakota. Major League Baseball was considering the scenario of splitting its regular season games between Florida and Arizona.

As far as the NFL is concerned, that doesn't mean the Dolphins, Buccaneers and Jaguars will be able to show up at their facilities. To be fair to everyone, no team can train at their facilities unless all 32 teams can do so. Despite the fact that the football season is still a long way off, many teams would like to be able to start training soon in order to get used to the new players, coaches and playing systems, which makes sense.
