As announced on Monday, the Vegas Golden Knights organization has signed 20-year-old defenseman Zach Hayes to an AHL (American Hockey League) contract through the 2020-21 season.

Coming off the end of his Western Hockey League (WHL) career with the Prince Albert Raiders, Hayes tallied 23 points (7G, 16A) in 60 games during the 2019-20 season. He would end his WHL career with 79 points (15G, 64A) in 272 games.

He also served as team captain through his final season and helped lead Prince Albert to its second Memorial Cup appearance.

With his newly signed contract, Hayes will play for the Vegas Golden Knights' new AHL affiliate, which will be based in Henderson, NV, following their acquisition of the San Antonio Rampage organization.

Henderson's new AHL team name has yet to be released at this time.
