Canadiens sign depth forward to extension

Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin announced Friday morning that the team has agreed to a one-year, two-way contract with forward Laurent Dauphin. The deal will pay him $700,000 at the NHL level and $175,000 at the AHL level, with a guaranteed salary of $200,000.

Dauphin joined the Canadiens organization on January 7th after being traded from the Nashville Predators in exchange for forward Michael McCarron. In 25 games with the Laval Rocket, he put up seven goals and eight assists. Prior to the trade, he had managed a similar seven goals and nine assists in 33 games with the Milwaukee Admirals.

Dauphin, 25, has played in 35 NHL games over his career, all with the Arizona Coyotes. In those 35 games, he has scored three goals and added one helper. He has also racked up 277 career AHL games, putting up 148 points. The Canadian-born forward was taken in the second round of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft by the Coyotes.
