Bruins sign college free agent Jack Ahcan

The Boston Bruins have managed to snag one of the better unsigned college free agents on the market. Defenceman Jack Ahcan will sign an entry-level contract with the team, according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.

Ahcan, 22, is described as an excellent, speedy skater with a high hockey IQ. If there's any knock against him, it would be his size. He is 5-foot, 8-inches and 186 pounds. Despite that, he's had four very good seasons at St. Cloud State, recording 103 points, including 21 goals, in 144 games. He was also the Huskies' captain this season.

Before the 2019-20 season had been cut short, he became the third defenseman in team history to accumulate 100 points in his career. He also broke the team record for assists by a blueliner when he nabbed his 81st helper. He was named to the 2019-20 All-NCHC Second Team. Ahcan skated in 127 consecutive games for the Huskies and led the team in blocked shots with 53.
