Per general manager Dale Tallon, the Florida Panthers have signed defenceman Max Gildon to a three-year, entry-level deal. Gildon was drafted by the Panthers in the third round of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft.

Gildon has spent the last three seasons playing for the University of New Hampshire. The 20-year-old had a great season, posting seven goals and 22 assists in 34 games. His 29 points was good enough to put him in third amongst all of Hockey East defencemen in scoring.

“Max is a dynamic and exciting young defenceman who possesses size and skill and plays the game with an edge,” Tallon said. “Since beginning his collegiate career, he has been a key player for the University of New Hampshire and has been a leader for his team. We are thrilled for Max to take the next step in his development with the Panthers.”

Prior to playing for New Hampshire, Gildon played for the U.S. National Under 18 Team, where he posted 14 points in 26 games. The 6-foot-3, 191 pound American recorded 73 points in 101 games over his three year college career.
