The Montreal Canadiens have signed their 2018 second-round pick Jesse Ylonen to a three-year, entry-level contract. The 20-year-old prospect was selected 35th overall.

The six-foot-one forward wrapped up his second season with the Finnish Liiga's Lahti Pelicans, putting up 12 goals and 22 points in 53 games. It was a bit of a disappointing season after he had managed 27 points in the same amount of games a year prior. Regardless, the Scottsdale, AZ native is an extremely promising prospect and has the chance to turn into a very good player.

Ylonen had joined Montreal's AHL affiliate Laval Rocket this season, but was unable to play in any games due to the league being suspended. He also played in the 2019 World Junior Championship for Team Finland, putting up three goals and three assists in seven games.
