A little over a week after being acquired from the Washington Capitals, restricted free agent goaltender Vitek Vanecek has agreed to terms on a three-year contract worth $10.2 million ($3.4 million AAV).
The Havlickuv Brod (Czechia) native will earn $3.55 million in 2022-23, $3.75 million in 2023-24 and $2.9 million in 2024-25.
Washington dealt Vanecek to New Jersey on July 8th along with a second-round pick in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft in exchange for a 2022 second-round pick and a 2022 third-round pick.
In 42 games for the Capitals in the 2021-22 season, the 26-year-old posted a record of 20-12-6 with a 2.67 GAA, a .908 save percentage and four shutouts.
