In what's been an extremely quiet time for professional hockey amidst the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) outbreak, it seems teams are still making moves among the prospect pool.

As of Tuesday, the Vegas Golden Knights organization has announced the signing of former UMass defenseman Jake McLaughlin to an AHL (American Hockey League) contract through the 2020-21 season.

Coming off of his senior year with the University of Massachusetts, McLaughlin tallied 14 points (3 G, 11 A) to go with 27 penalty minutes in 34 games.

During his NCAA career, he recorded 42 points (10 G, 32A) to go with 81 penalty minutes in 138 games from 2016 to 2020.

He will play his first season in the AHL with the newly-approved Henderson, Nevada team, which has yet to be named.

The franchise, formerly the San Antonio Rampage, will serve as the AHL affiliate to the Vegas Golden Knights organization, who are parting ways with the Chicago Wolves franchise following the end of the 2019-20 season.
