Per Minnesota Wild general manager Bill Guerin, the team has signed forward Mitchell Chaffee to a two-year, entry-level contract.

Chaffee just finished his third season with the University of Massachusetts. The 22-year-old scored 16 goals and added 13 assists in 30 games this season. He finished the season tied for first on his team for points, second in both goals and power play goals, and fourth in assists. In total for his three-year career with the Minutemen, he put up 95 points in 108 games played.

Before joining the Minutemen, Chaffee spent two seasons in the USHL with both the Bloomington Thunder and the Fargo Force. The American forward, who is listed at 6-foot, 205-pounds, will make his professional debut next season, though it remains to be seen whether it is at the NHL or American Hockey League level.
