The 32-year-old suffered a lower-body injury in the middle of March and was subsequently placed on long-term injured reserve. Holtby appeared in 24 games with the Dallas Stars during the 2021-22 season, posting a 10-10-1 record, a 2.78 GAA, and a .913 save percentage.
If it is the end of the road for Holtby, he certainly had a fairly solid career and will be remembered most for his time in Washington where he sits second in franchise history with 282 wins, a Stanley Cup in 2018 and a Vezina Trophy in 2016.
