When the MLB shut its doors on Thursday, the original hope was that it was only going to be two weeks before baseball is back. According to MLB Network's Jon Heyman, the prediction of two weeks is no longer realistic.

Heyman reports that several executives around the MLB believe that if baseball started up before June, it would be a welcomed surprise.

When questioned about the Virus on Thursday, New York Yankees star Giancarlo Stanton had to say, "It's unfortunate, but I think it's the proper measure we need to take now given the situation the country's in and the world's in. It's important to know that some things are bigger than baseball, bigger than sports at the moment. Once we're able to hopefully get a hold on some things and get some questions answered, we can figure out when things can continue."

The MLB season was scheduled to start March 26, following the normal 33 days of spring training games. The MLB has yet to release how they would structure the rest of the season following the return. Until the league gets word from the World Health Organization, a decision on the length of the regular season would be the biggest concern.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced on Sunday that they are recommending no gatherings of 50+ people in the United States for the next eight weeks. This would push the potential return to baseball activities to at-least May 4. Which would require more spring training before teams could even attempt to begin the regular season.
