After spending the past two seasons playing in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL), it sounds like forward Anton Slepyshev could be making his return to the Edmonton Oilers.

According to Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal, the Oilers have been in talks with Slepyshev's agent, Dan Milstein, about a possible return for the 25-year-old.

"Believe the Oilers have talked to Slepyshev's agent Dan Milstein about a one-year contract return but, of course, it's a 'for how much?' question," Matheson wrote on Twitter on Sunday. "They certainly want him back but as a role player, third or fourth-line."

Slepyshev, who was drafted by the Oilers 88th overall at the 2013 NHL Draft, appeared in 102 games with the club where he recorded 23 points (10 goals, 13 assists). He also added 31 points (16 goals, 15 assists) in 59 American Hockey League contests.

In July 2018, he signed a two-year contract with CSKA Moscow of the KHL. Still, the Oilers issued a qualifying offer that ensured that they were able to keep his North American rights until his 27th birthday—which isn't until May 25, 2021. So, the Oilers still have a fair bit of time to negotiate with the rugged winger before his KHL contract expires.
