The San Jose Sharks have announced that a part-time staff member who works at SAP Centre where the team plays has tested positive for COVID-19. The person is under self-quarantine and receiving care from medical professionals.

In the statement, the team says the employee, who is recovering and feeling better, last worked at the San Jose Sharks game at SAP Center on March 3rd, 2020. This would have been the game against the Toronto Maple Leafs where the Sharks won 5-2. It was also prior to the County of Santa Clara Public Health Department's March 5th recommended moratorium on public gatherings of over 1,000 people.

"In coordination with the public health department, Sharks Sports & Entertainment Management is following the health authority's determination that risk to the public from that exposure is low and that no additional precautions are necessary. SSE will continue to monitor the situation," said the release.

"As always, the safety of our guests, fans, staff, players and community is of the utmost importance and we will continue to keep you apprised of any further updates."
