On Monday, TSN's Pierre LeBrun reported that Mikheyev is seeking a multi-year contract with an annual average value in the $4.75-$5.5 million range.
While Mikheyev had the best of his three NHL seasons in 2021-22, recording 32 points (21 goals, eleven assists) in 53 games, it seems like a bit of a stretch to be asking for $4.75-$5.5 million per season. For a comparison, Evgeny Dadonov signed a three-year contract worth $5 million AAV in 2020. Prior to signing that contract, Dadonov already had three seasons of 25+ goals.
On pending UFA winger Ilya Mikheyev, my understanding is that if he hits the open market, his agent Dan Milstein would be looking for a multi-year deal in the $4.75 M AAV to $5.5 M AAV range...— Pierre LeBrun (@PierreVLeBrun) July 4, 2022
