According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the Nashville Predators have placed defenceman Matt Tennyson on unconditional waivers for the purpose of a contract termination.

The 32-year-old signed a two-year, two-way contract with the Predators on the opening day of free agency in 2021. He's spent parts of nine seasons in the NHL with San Jose, Carolina, Buffalo, New Jersey and Nashville.

Tennyson played the majority of the 2021-22 season in the American Hockey League with the Milwaukee Admirals, but also appeared in eight games with Nashville. In 53 games with Milwaukee, Tennyson had fourteen points (three goals, eleven assists), 44 penalty minutes and was a minus-three.

The Minneapolis native becomes the second player put on unconditional waivers in as many days after the Lightning placed goaltender Amir Miftakhov yesterday. Miftakhov cleared waivers on Saturday afternoon and is now a free agent, but is likely heading back home to Russia.
